Canary In The Reactor

Steel veins pulse with uranium’s rot,

And deep in the furnace’s iron heart,

Sings the last canary, torn apart.

Once bright as hope, now gray and thinned.

She sings not for joy, nor songbird’s grace,

But a warning cast in molten lace.
